Pumpkins.

Mom and sister have made a very big deal about pumpkins recently. We buy them at farms and grocery stores and have a small pile of them. I learned today what you are actually supposed to do with them.

Cut them open,

and scoop the insides out….

But the insides taste really bad. So you just throw them away.

Then your sister and mom carve shapes on one side.

This all seemed very odd until dad lit a candle and put it inside.

Then you have a pumpkin with a two tooth grin!

Mom called it a Bergy-Lantern.

Cause I have a matching two tooth grin.

I like pumpkins.

Farm.

Mom took me to the farm today.

We rode a trailer behind a tractor into a field.

Mom told me to pick out a pumpkin.

So I did. I pointed, mom took a picture…. and yet somehow we ended up with that white pumpkin behind me.

Yup. Because sister wanted that one.

Cue diobolical sister laugh.

Oh well. Next year, maybe I will get to choose the pumpkin. But for now…..

Mima and Grampy.

Mima, I’m glad I had a good six months with you. I know I made you light up and that you adored me. Miss you.

(A note from Bergen’s editor: Bergen’s grandmother passed away on May 12th after a nearly four year battle with cancer. We are all thankful that Bergen was born with enough time for her to meet him. The blog should resume its regular posts, with some backdating to fill in the last two months. Thanks for reading, Bergy bloggies.)
