I got to stay up way past my bedtime last night. Which was great. Except, mom and dad took us to a loud place with a large crowd of people.
A band played for awhile, which was okay.
But then the loudest thing I have ever heard started. And there were bright flashes in the sky. People clapped and said ooh. I covered my ears and waited for it all to be done.
Well. At least I got to stay up late.
Happy day of loud bright things.
Halloween is an interesting day. Mom and dad dress you in certain outfits. (According to sister you are supposed to throw a crying fit about your outfit.)
Then, mom and dad take you somewhere and people give you candy, which you can’t eat.
But you can irritate sister by stealing the candy.

Get dressed up.
Take a family photo.
Sleep through church and then pose for more photos.
Napping in uncomfortable clothing and sitting for blurry close ups are small inconveniences in comparison to what the man we are celebrating endured.
All I have known is a holiday season.
There was hanging with Grampy while he gave thanks and ate pie.
There was posing in front of the decorated tree with my sister.
There was lounging at the ski lodge on Christmas day while mom and dad skied.
And after the New Year, there was the sad act of putting away the tree decorations. At least I didn’t have to help.
So now we are into the non holiday season. Hopefully it is just a special,
